Here are Teresa’s heartfelt words about why this issue is so important and a basic human right that we here at Our Revolution New Mexico are committed to fight for #Medicare4All until it’s enacted.
It's #DiabetesAwarenessMonth! Come Join Us!
"Lila was 7 when she attended the #Medicare4All Rally in Albuquerque on June 24, 2017. She made a poster that originally she had written: “Share the HELP Care”. That’s what she heard when we talked to her and her sisters about health care. I shouldn’t have corrected her. It IS help care. We SHOULD be sharing, helping, and caring for one another!

A year later, on August 22, 2018 at 8 and a half years of age, Lila was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. It was an autoimmune attack on the beta cells of her pancreas and her body can no longer produce insulin and take care of her glucose and energy needs. Currently, Type 1 diabetes isn’t preventable and it can’t be cured. It can only be managed. Lila is dependent on multiple daily insulin injections, blood checks, and carb counting everything she eats and drinks.
It is now a much more personal fight for her dad and I and Lila too, to make healthcare, medicine (insulin), and medical (diabetes) supplies accessible and affordable (FREE!) to all who need them. People shouldn’t die or be forced into sickness and emergency care because they must ration insulin all because pharmaceutical and insurance companies are reaping profits.
We shouldn’t deny “help” care to our loved ones with preexisting medical conditions nor financially burden those among us in greatest need, forced to rely on gofundme donations. Other democratic countries around the world are improving the health and happiness of their people via socialized healthcare, so can we." ~ Teresa Tenorio
Please donate to our efforts. Every dollar contributed is tax deductible and goes to the invaluable research for a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
